Getting started
Overview of setting up the Fashionbits EDI app for Shopify.
The Fashionbits EDI app processes EDIFACT messages (such as dispatch advices and price catalogues) directly in your Shopify store. You can get started right away — no setup required.
Fastest start: upload a file
Section titled “Fastest start: upload a file”The easiest way in is to upload an EDI file directly. This needs no email account and no other setup — just upload a file and watch the app process it.
- Open the dashboard or any of the message lists.
- Drag an EDI file onto the page — or click Upload message file in the top right.
- The app detects the message type automatically from the file’s contents and takes you straight to the processed message.
See Upload files for details.
Once you’ve set your locations’ GLNs, an uploaded DESADV file becomes an inventory transfer in Shopify — see Locations & GLNs.
Later: set up email (optional)
Section titled “Later: set up email (optional)”If your trading partners send messages by email regularly, you can connect a Microsoft 365 mailbox. The app then reads incoming EDI attachments automatically, so you no longer have to upload anything by hand.
- Connect email account – Connect the Microsoft 365 mailbox that receives EDI messages.
This step is optional and can be done any time later.
What’s next?
Section titled “What’s next?”For an overview of the supported formats see Message types. Adjust how price-catalogue fields map under PRICAT mapping. If something goes wrong, see Troubleshooting.
