Upload files

As well as receiving messages automatically by email, you can upload EDIFACT files directly. This is handy for re-importing a file, running a test, or processing a message you received some other way.

Upload is available on every message list (DESADV, PRICAT, ORDRSP, SLSRPT, INVRPT) and on the dashboard.

Uploading a file

There are two ways:

• Page action: Click Upload message file in the top-right. A small window opens and your browser’s file picker starts automatically.
• Drag-and-drop: Drag a file from your file manager onto anywhere on the page. As soon as a file hovers over the page, a drop area appears — just release the file there.

The file name doesn’t matter. The message type is detected from the file’s contents (the UNH segment of the EDIFACT message), exactly like an inbound email. The browser picker suggests the .edi, .txt, .edifact and .eancom extensions.

After uploading

If the file is read successfully, you’re taken straight to the new message’s detail page, where you can see the detected message type, its line items and the processing status — the same view as for messages received by email.

When a file can’t be processed

If no valid EDIFACT message can be read from the file, an error message explains exactly why, for example:

• No EDIFACT content found: The file is empty or isn’t a valid EDIFACT document.
• Unsupported message type: The type in the UNH segment isn’t one of the supported message kinds.
• Processing error: The message couldn’t be read in full; the message names the cause.

In that case, check that the file really is an EDIFACT document and try again.
